MORE than 20 Harpenden Lions Club volunteers rattled tins in the High Street throughout the day on Saturday December 15, and managed to collect an impressive £858 for Emmaus Communities.

The group offers homeless people a home, work and the chance to rebuild their lives in a supportive environment, and operates locally in Batford and St Albans.

The Lions have been raising funds in this way in the run up to Christmas for more than 20 years.
